It was a night for the history books that's for sure! The UBC-O Mountain Riders brought the shovels and the muscle and unloaded 7 trailer loads of snow from the local hockey rink (thanks Capital News Centre!) and we built the most epic ramp in the lot at Red Bird Brewing. The event started with warm ups and testing of the mega ramp at around 3pm. 30 riders of the top riders from the Okanagan all started hitting the ramp and getting a feel for the rails and pipe features. The first reports we that it was FAST! The extra lube we put on the pipe feature may have had something to do with it :)
Once the riders got their flow and the crows started showing up, the event really kicked into high gear. It was a non-stop barrage of riders hitting the rails one after the other for 2 straight hours. It was a sight to see for sure. The stoke was super high among the riders and spectators alike. Beers were flowing, pizzas were flying out of the oven as fast as the riders hitting ramp.
Needless to say, we are super thankful for everyone that helped pull this event off. Red Bird for hosting taking the leap and hosting the event, UBC-O Mountain Riders for bringing the crew, helping build the ramp and rails and spreading the stoke. Our sponsors Faction Skis, Bataleon Snowboards, Keefer Lake Lodge for supplying amazing prizes.
